Anna Blackburn is an award-winning freelance director and actor based in London.
She was recently Assistant Director for How Does Santa Go Down the Chimney? (Told By An Idiot & The Unicorn Theatre), directed by Paul Hunter. Previous to this, her directing credits include The Intrusion (UK Tour - Assistant Director), Julius Caesar (Hen & Chickens), This Changes Everything (Omnibus) and The Tempest (Drayton Arms) which was the winner of London Pub Theatre’s Special Commendation for Excellence. Her production of The Tempest was also selected as Alix Owen’s Critic’s Choice of the Year. Her production of Julius Caesar was longlisted for the 2025 London Pub Theatre Awards and is nominated for Best Director and Ensemble Performance at the Fringe First Awards 2025-2026.
She is Associate Director for Burnt Orange Theatre Company and frequently works across youth theatres, drama schools and professional companies as a director, actor and facilitator.
Anna has a First Class BA (Hons) degree in English from the University of Exeter and a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Acting from Fourth Monkey Actor Training Company (letter of equivalency).
